Wallet Address Keeps Changing
Your wallet shows a different address each time, or a new address after restoring.
This guide covers 4 verified steps to resolve "Wallet Address Keeps Changing". Follow each step in order before moving to the next. If the steps below don't resolve your issue, use the community support options at the bottom of this page.
HD Wallets Generate Multiple Addresses
Most modern wallets (MetaMask, Trust Wallet) are HD wallets that can generate many addresses from one seed phrase. Each is valid and holds separate funds. This is a feature, not a bug.
Check Which Account Is Active
In MetaMask, click the account icon at the top right. You may have multiple accounts listed (Account 1, Account 2, etc.). Make sure you're viewing the same account you used before.
Restored Wallet Showing Wrong Address
If after restoring your seed phrase the address is different, you may be using the wrong derivation path. MetaMask uses m/44'/60'/0'/0. Check your wallet's settings for derivation path options.
Check All Derived Accounts
After restoring, click "Add Account" a few times to derive additional accounts. Your original address may be Account 2 or 3 rather than the default Account 1.
